Détails du produit
- I was possessed by a fear I had never experienced before. Was this part of what is called the pain of love? As I stood in the middle of nowhere, the sun had set and I felt like I had no choice but to die as the dew of the night fell on me. Osamu Dazai, one of the leading writers of twentieth-century Japanese literature and famous for his extraordinary life, created a sensation as soon as his novel Setting Sun, in which he placed a post-war spiritual Japan with broken moral ties, against its background, was published. The novel, which Dazai wrote using his experiences with his poet lover Şizuko Ota and his diaries, reveals how a small family goes to destruction step by step. Kazuko, the 29-year-old daughter of a once-rich aristocratic family, and her mother sell their luxurious house in Tokyo and try to live hand-to-mouth in a house on the Izu Peninsula. But their fragile balanced lives are turned upside down by the return of Kazuko's brother Naoci, who was lost in World War II. While her mother's health gradually deteriorates and all her money is wasted on Naoci's trips to Tokyo, Kazuko will lose her heart to an alcoholic writer and what happened to her will gradually deepen the alienation she feels towards society.
