Though, it is not recommended to store heavy items on top. Some customers use it as a coffee table. The trunk looks nice and blends with the decor of the room. It's a decent value for money for most customers. The chest stores a lot and comes with a lock to keep kids out. Some were disappointed that the lid did not line-up well and some had issues with the straps and nails being old and rusted.
