The device measures environmental conditions and detects specific spectral bands of light. It has ten light source selections that are highly responsive and make sense in different lighting situations. The back of the device isn't flat, so it doesn't take a good horizontal measurement. The product is not suitable for measuring PPFD and PAR levels or colour temperature. It won't measure the total lumen output of a single lamp or fixture, and its peak sensitivity is at 550 nm, with little sensitivity from 400 nm to 450 nm. However, it's sturdy and accurate in normal lighting levels up to 40,000 fc with + or - 3%. It's handy for measuring light intensity from grow lights, and it's easy to use and determine the type of lights needed/brightness in a new office. The product can help one determine compliance with local lighting ordinance. It requires pressing and holding the Power button for at least two seconds to activate it. The meter's display screen might be difficult to read under bright light conditions.
